CINEMATIC. ROOTED. INTIMATE.
WHO IS KEL KREATED?
I’m Rahkel Dixon, an Atlanta-based photographer, visual artist, and creative director currently pursuing my MFA in Photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design. My work moves between documentary, editorial, and fine art photography, often blending all three at once.
Growing up in Atlanta deeply shaped the way I see. The neighborhoods, colors, textures, music, family histories, and everyday moments around me continue to influence how I create. I’m interested in images that feel lived in—work that carries presence, atmosphere, and emotional weight rather than perfection.
A lot of my work centers around Black identity, Southern memory, home, family, and the emotional relationships we build with spaces over time. I’m drawn to deep shadows, bold color, natural light, intimacy, and storytelling that feels both personal and familiar.
Outside of my fine art practice, I also work across editorial, fashion, branding, and creative direction. No matter the project, I care about creating images that feel intentional, cinematic, and honest.
Driven by passion
Some projects begin with conversations. Others begin with music, color, memory, or simply observing the way light moves through a room. I’m inspired by everyday life, Black culture, Southern environments, family archives, film photography, magazines, and the emotional possibilities of image-making.
My goal is always to create work that stays with people. Images that feel quiet but powerful. Familiar but layered. Personal, while still leaving space for others to see themselves within them.
